Word Power

Commit to Uplift

We’ve all heard the saying: “You’re only as good as your word.” It implies the power in what we express. In this age of instant global communication, it seems so easy to send your word out into the universe, with hardly a thought about how it might be received. But the facts are the same: Your word is your bond, your connection to others. It’s your commitment to delivering the truth—and to understanding your own personality as a means to do so—that determines not only your success, but also the ultimate nature of your relationships with others.

Amid e-mail, text messages and social networking, people are still the source of events and information. In fact, with all these ways to communicate, the bond of commitment is even more important than ever. How many politicians have a dirty secret uncovered by an errant e-mail? How easy is it to brighten someone’s day by posting a random uplifting thought online? Devote yourself to your words. Reflect before you hit “Send.” Shine a light into this increasingly interconnected world.
