Oh Baby
Bundle Roll Your Infant

Swaddling, or what's called "bundle roll" in Yogic teachings, is an age old technique for helping create calm, centered, happy and meditative babies. After feeding or at nap time, simply place your infant on a soft blanket or sheet. Fold one corner over your little one's feet, place the baby's arms next to their body, and wrap them so that their arms are secure at their sides and they can’t wiggle loose. (But of course, don't wrap too tightly.) Place your sweet bundle face-up, or turned to one side, in their crib or flanked by a couple of pillows.
The teaching says that this technique gives them an experience of security similar to being in the womb and practically, it keeps them from flailing their arms around, which can create a cycle of chaotic movement, unsettled behavior and crying. The child will become calm, having a meditative “go within” experience, and will fall asleep in a short period of time. It’s a very cozy and sweet sight to see your little one drift away in a calm, peaceful sleep all swaddled up in that bundle of love!

I absolutely believe in this. I have 3 children 2 of which I swaddled. The first child was a complete nightmare and wouldn't settle, had colic and I believe that is because I didn't swaddle him. The other two children didn't suffer from colic and were much easier and happier babies and they were swaddled. That was the only difference, all the babies were breast fed.
I am an RN, and ALL of the babies are wrapped in this manner at every hospital.
If your baby doesn't like being swaddled...try swaddling even tighter! You need to swaddle like you're the meanest mommy on the block. Think of how snug and tight they were in your tummy! :)
