Fruit of the Angels

The Wonders of Papaya

Full of fiber, digestive enzymes and anti-oxidants for healthy cholesterol and anti-aging benefits, papayas are known as the “fruit of the angels.” This power fruit yields multiple blessings…use the flesh to get lots of potassium, plus vitamin C and A. The papaya seeds can be used to treat intestinal worms and the juice is great for alleviating infections of the colon when taken regularly. Even the papaya skin, with its lovely digestive enzyme, papain, does wonders for treating skin wounds.

Here are a couple of suggestions to put this low-calorie, high-nutrition fruit to work—make a delicious smoothie with chopped, peeled, seeded papaya (pick a ripe one that is turning from green to yellow, not too firm and not too mushy). Add some pineapple juice, milk, banana, honey, lime juice and ice cubes and whiz in a blender. For your skin, whip up a face mask with mashed papaya and honey…you’ll look years younger as papaya works its magic to remove dead skin cells. Experience the wonders of papaya!
