Orchestrate Your Life
Music as Metaphor

When you were five years old, “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” may have been the best song ever. As you got older, you wanted more complexity in your music, with harmonies, counterpoints, maybe even some discord to express more emotion. Just like music, life also needs rhythm (balance of work and play), a main theme (your life’s purpose) and some really cool harmonies (friends and family), as well as some tension to make it interesting.
What’s cool is that you get to decide the playlist for your life. Don’t like what’s playing right now? Try something classical (like taking a walk or reading a book). Need something to energize your day with jazzy beats? Get off your chair and look at things around you in a new way (doing headstand is great for getting perspective). The metaphor of music is that you have the power to choose your own unique way of scoring your “life movie.” Have some fun, stay true to your values and then let the music play!
