Back to the Future

Catch a Child's Vision

When you look at your daily routine, the usual stresses add up to a single question: What’s it all for? Taking a look at your personal goals is a great way to self-assess and also clues you in to your sense of the Big Picture. With this mind, try this: Mentally return to your childhood, right at that moment when you first realized what you wanted to be when you grew up. What was it? More importantly, why did you want to be that?

Now, look at where you are right now. In all likelihood, even if the circumstances you envisioned aren’t your current reality, you will be able to recognize the extent to which you have lived according to that pure, child-like projection. Don’t judge, just observe. Then, make a plan to incorporate that vision. Be specific, and embrace the planning stages with guileless enthusiasm. You’ll find your imagination firing and circumstances coming out to play. Sometimes, just starting on the path to your goals is enough to get the "creative juices" flowing...even a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
